Petrograd, 1916

First book edition, first printing - 3 volumes bound in one. Contemporary quarter-sheepskin. Collation: Title leaf, [2] 3-148; [2] 5-209; and 3-276 pp. Complete with the half-title in volume 1 only, as called for.

Petersburg is a masterpiece of 20th century literature - Nabokov placed it in league with Ulysses, The Metamorphosis, and In Search of Lost Time. It was first serialized in 3 issues of the short-lived Sirin magazine from 1913-14. Both the magazine and book appearances are scarce, particularly in this condition.
