First edition, first issue(copyright date 1910 on title page verso) of Lawrence's first novel. It appeared on January 19, 1911 - one day before the English edition.  The English edition consisted of 1500 copies while the number for these Duffield first editions is unknown.
 
Modestly dusty fore and top edges, faint sporadic stains on the covers, rear hinge mildly tender. Interior quite clean. Overall a sound, bright copy in Near Fine condition. An excellent copy of a book often found in brutal disrepair, certainly rare in this condition. Housed in custom case.
